Disney Freebies You Can Get From Home

A lot of people associate Disney with spending money but Disney actually offers a lot of really great free services. A lot of services and entertainment are available for free when you’re visiting their resorts, like buttons and autographs and photo ops, but since not everyone can get to Disney right now here are some cool freebies you can take advantage of from the privacy of your own home, including two free tickets to Disneyland!

1. Fun Disney recipes you can make alone or with your family-

This one is really cool because they have dozens of options to choose from that range from beginner to advanced. The offer party ideas as well as recipes for the family and even cool holiday themed dishes. If you enjoy cooking and you’d like to add some Disney in your kitchen I highly recommend checking out the official Disney recipes website at https://family.disney.com/recipes/

2. A free autographed postcard of your child’s favorite character-

This one is really cool and I have several friends with kids who have done this. If you have your child write a letter to their favorite character then Disney will send back an autographed postcard to your child. This one isn’t entirely free because you still have to pay the cost of a stamp but it’s highly worth it. The only thing you should be aware of is sometimes the return time can take 6-8 weeks instead of the 4-6 it says on their site. It’s still very cool though and any kid would love receiving an autographed postcard of their favorite character. There’s two addresses you can use if you want to get your child an autographed postcard.

Disney World will send you an autographed postcard if you use this address:
Walt Disney World Communications
P.O. Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-0040

Disneyland will send you an autographed postcard if you use this address:

Walt Disney Company
Attn: Fan Mail Department
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank, CA 91521

3. An autographed photo congratulating you on your wedding-

This one is for the adults. If you have a couple extra wedding invitations you can get a postcard from Mickey and Minnie or Cinderella and Prince Charming congratulating your on your wedding. They’ll also send you “Just Married” buttons that you can wear on your honeymoon or just hold onto as a cool keepsake. Either way this is still a really cool way to add some Disney magic to your special day. Here are the addresses to use if you want to get a postcard from Mickey and Minnie congratulating you on your wedding.

Disney World will send you an autographed postcard if you use this address:

Mickey and Minnie Mouse

4. Disney Travel Planning DVDs-

This one is cool if you’re planning a Disney trip but you’re not sure what you want to do, or even where you want to go. Disney will send you a free DVD highlighting multiple parks and vacation club properties. I’ve watched a lot of their guided tours while I was at Disney and they’re definitely good at highlighting the best parts of their properties. This will definitely help to make your decision easier if you’re still undecided. Or if you’re in between trips but you’d really like a guided tour for the nostalgia you can tour your favorite Disney destinations. Here is the official website where you can get your own DVD. https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/dvd/

5. Get a call from Mickey or Goofy or Mickey and Minnie wishing you a magical cruise-

If you’re planning on taking a Disney Cruise, or just think it would be cool for your young one to get a call wishing you a magical cruise, the Disney Cruise Lines let you set up a call through their website. They do ask for details about which cruise you’re taking but I was able to click through and select random info to get a call. It’s not very complicated or elaborate but I’m sure a lot of kids would like to hear those characters’ voices coming out of the other end of the phone line. To set up a call visit the website here. 6. Disney Resorts-

This is the only one you can’t do from home, unless your home is close to a Disney resort. I threw this in because it’s a really cool secret that a lot of people don’t know about. Most people think that you need to pay to check out hotels on Disney properties but that’s actually not the case. Hotels are open to non guests and a lot of them have amenities like free movies playing on the property or other places to relax while you’re in between plans. Or if you just want to check out the ambiance because each of the hotels has a very unique theme and design. The only areas that are off limits to non-guests are the gyms and pool areas. These resort hotels are massive though so they often leave a lot to be explored.

Christmastime is an especially nice time to visit them because they go all out with their holiday decorations. Several hotels, like the Grand Californian and Grand Floridian make massive gingerbread houses that they display in their lobbies, and all the hotels have their own Christmas trees with different themes you can check out. At Easter there are even hotels that display giant chocolate eggs with Disney scenes painted on them using multi colored chocolate. If you haven’t had the chance to check these out yet I highly recommend it because it’s truly a magical experience.

7. Free Disney character “call” from Pull-Ups-

Pull-Ups offers this cool service where you can get a video “call” from one of their favorite characters. I put “call” in quotation marks because it’s actually a video of the character pretending to call. Since it’s geared towards kids who are still using Pull-Ups I doubt they’ll be old enough to notice though. Here’s where you can get that “call.” https://www.pull-ups.com/en-us/potty-training/games-tools/disney-character-calls

8. Disney Channel backgrounds for your video calls-

This is pretty cool and it’s a totally free goodie from Disney. They have backgrounds from your favorite Disney Channel shows with instructions on how to set them up for your video calls. They have a lot of options including some of the most recent Disney Channel Original Movies, and even shows that are no longer airing on the Disney channel. If you want to show your love of Disney and also set a cool background for your next video call I highly recommend checking them out. You can find the backgrounds along with the instructions for setting them up on your video calls here. https://news.disney.com/disney-channel-video-backgrounds-available

9. Learn how to draw Disney and Pixar characters-

If you or someone you know is interested in animation this is really cool. Disney and Pixar both offer tutorial for drawing some of their most famous characters. Even if you’re not an experienced artist these tutorials are pretty detailed and could be a fun recreational activity by yourself or a group activity with friends and family. Even if you’re not sure if you can do it at the very least check out the videos because you might find that it’s easier than you thought. To watch the tutorials for Disney characters go here-

I definitely recommend checking it out. You can find the videos here. https://news.disney.com/magicmoments/video/storytime
